Poison Cherry Drive

I picked up this volume based on two reviews which called it really cracked out.  I was ready for some really freaky BL, so I thought I’d give it a whirl despite the fact the computer coloring on the cover put me off quite a bit.

I was really uncomfortable since most of the (meager) plot involved rapes, and they joke about rape quite a bit.  But… they joke about rape the same way that the internet jokes about rape, and you know that it can’t be taken seriously in the context of the story.  It’s there all the same, though.

Aside from that, this book is really weird.  I often couldn’t figure out what was going on, and I didn’t think it mattered that much.  A lot of the stuff going on has to do with the two main characters, one who maintains that he is 94 years old and never remembers the president of the company’s name, and the other who is sex-crazed to the point of insanity.  He starts off the volume straight, but is converted after a single blowjob from the company’s vice president, brought about by the harmless comment “you suck.”  There are two other recurring characters, one who repeats all the insanity with a rather straight face, making it ten times funnier, and the other who basically is a straight man… yet can’t remember his life before joining the company two years ago.

Yeah, no recurring plot, and really nonsensical and kind of uncomfortable, and not all that good, but funny all the same.
