Othello 7

The end. I’m so sad it’s over. As I usually say, I’m not sure how quality this series is… it doesn’t do anything that makes it stand out among others, but the main character’s really endearing (as are most of the others), the story’s good, and it’s got a bittersweet ending. I really loved this series, and I’m happy to see it wrap up as efficiently as it did.

Can I say anything without spoiling the ending? I wanna talk about how Nana and Yaya **** and how Shohei **** and ELIZABETH! But I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know the ending is very satisfying indeed.

Othello 6

Yay, volume six! *blinks* March for the conclusion? Dammit.

It felt like I finished this in the span of ten minutes. Any series like this, where some secret is being kept from someone, has its payoff. This volume is the payoff in its entirety, and next volume will be the conclusion. The payoff was very much worth it, and I liked everything about how Yaya found out about Nana. The reactions were appropriate all around, and I especially loved the conclusion to the complication. Like I said, it read extremely fast, and I was super pleased with it when I finished and cursed profanely when I realized I’d have to wait another few months for the end.

I love this series. I’m sad there’s not more people enjoying it along with me.

Othello 5

Somehow, this volume was extremely disappointing. I really liked that Yaya was trying to figure out her problem by herself and everyone was sort of… either really hoping for it or trying really hard to avoid it. I think the thing I liked least about it was the confrontation with Hana-chan, but thinking back on it, I tore through that section and ate it right up, the premise was so cool… it wasn’t disappointing. Maybe it was because it took up nearly the entire volume and it seems like nothing else happened, which is sorta true. No, it’s not, because there was an awesome Chikan story that I LOVED and was one of my favorite moments in the series. Justice is done! Thank you Nana!

Well… it, uh… ended on a lame cliffhanger? That’s true, because while the moment was climatic, not enough was revealed about the events to make me angst and sit on the edge of my seat for the next volume.

Fuck it, I don’t know what I’m talking about. This volume was awesome. I think. I’m not really sure. Does anyone else even read this series? Or these entries?

Othello 4

Damn, I have to keep track of these older series. I haven’t entered any for this, and hardly any for Holic since I’ve been keeping up with this journal. Geez…

This series… it doesn’t really do anything particularly spectacular, or well, but it is nonetheless one of the series I look forward to the most. The gimmick of Nana and Yaya, the fact Yaya has the crushes she does, that she is unaware of Nana, that Nana kicks ass… none of these things fire me up all that much, and none of them are particularly original. But GODDAMN is this a good manga.

Hana-chan is the Moe/Sari of choice for this volume (by the way, Moe and Sari do come back for little cameos). She tricks everyone into signing up for her talent agency, which is probably phony, then hires them out to do rather naughty work. She also keeps yelling at Yaya and makes her do bad things to try and find Nana, when she herself won’t make any sacrifices… or even LOOK for her, despite the fact Yaya has never seen Nana. Things keep snowballing, and Nana has some tight places to get out of… but JUSTICE IS SERVED! Hooray!

The end of the book was rather ominous, and I’m really looking forward to the next volume. Oh Othello, if I only knew why I loved you so.
